The Quick Study

While serving as the Utah Ambassador for the Portrait Society of America, Glenda began conducting weekly 2 hour life-painting sessions at a local gallery to help other artists develop and improve their 'from life' painting skills. Different models are used each week so the works produced in these sessions are called Quick studies.

These quick renderings are not usually intended to become a completed work of art, but rather an intense exercise in capturing the models likeness while mastering the difficult skill of quickly developing and using a balanced color palette.

While many artists, out of necessity, select their palette from a photograph, the most renowned artists will agree that learning to interpret colors from live models is what distinguishes great portraiture from ‘photo copy’ art.
